Dr. Candice McDonald is the Chief of NASA Protective Services at the John Glenn Research Center (OH). She is the former Deputy CEO of the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) and has served for over two decades in public service as a federal agent, firefighter, EMS officer, fire & life safety educator, CE instructor, and inspector. She is an active volunteer of the Winona (OH) Fire Department and an adjunct professor of homeland security at the University of Arkansas. Before entering government service in 2004, she spent ten years working as a community-based behavioral health case manager and drug and alcohol counselor. She holds a Doctor of Business Administration with a specialty in homeland security, a master’s in organizational leadership, a bachelor’s in organizational management, and an associate’s in health and human services. McDonald also has a certification in project management from Kent State University and NASA Lean Six Sigma Green Belt. She is an active instructor with the NVFC, current member of the FDIC/Fire Engineering Advisory Board, past president of the Cumberland Valley Volunteer Firefighter’s Association, and a past trustee with Women in Fire.
